So I was wondering if this game is strictly multiplayer or is there a campaign as well. I was hoping to play it last night but I had work, and it's killing me! I want to play it so bad!!!

Are you asking about a strictly single-player server where you will not see other players? ARK is a survival game which makes it different from traditional first person games. It is meant to be a multi-player game, a first person MMO of sorts. Servers are designed to be able to host multiple players, usually around 80. That being said you could host your own local server and password protect it so no one else can get in, if that's what you really want.

Personally, I don't see the reason in it. If you do not want to interact with other people, or fight against them, play on a PvE server. You will be thankful for the other people around you when you need need help killing dinos or crafting (especially if you will be playing on an Official server). No one is forcing you to join a tribe. You can honestly play at whatever pace you deem fit! That's what I do, because my boyfriend (bless his soul) takes these kinds of games a tad too seriously and he and his crew are just a bit much for me. So, I build my own bases without them. It takes me longer but for me, it's fun.

To answer your question about a campaign: taming dinos and building bases IS the campaign, but there really isn't any story to it other than you are a human, stranded on the ARK, and must adapt to survive.
