These forums are spammed every minute why don't you guys install "SpamHause" into your web server? It would reduce it at least with 80% of the spam messages.

wow it is pretty bad.. this is the only ark forum I have found community based so far too.

I already wrote a few PMs to the site admin, but there is no response from him for days, if there was any ever.

The spam is just stupid and can be blocked by many ways, such as anti-spam programs or some moderators.

There are many ways on getting the spam blocked. From server level you can install the package "spamhause" and for PHPBB there are a several mods for it. Although the admin really needs to do some thing about it otherwise Google blacklists this domain and it is bai bai community though.

I think what was going on is that the registration question was easily scraped by the bots.

I made it a bit harder (but still easy to solve for new users) - which should eliminate spam completely. We'll see.

I would recommend to install an anti spam bot and captcha's are easily sniped through XRumer though so that is your biggest worries. As for the spam will there be a clean up crew?

I am going to get a few moderators today.

As for the CAPTCHA it's completely useless like you said with Xrumer bots.

The best way is registration protection with Q&A (done!) and banning existing spam bots that are registered (working on it!)
