PVE mode while offline

There needs to be a happy medium between PVP and PVE. The problem with PVP is that your base gets smashed 9/10 while you're offline. You spend hours gathering and building, for it all to be reduced to rubble in about 10 mins. As a lower level player it really discourages you.
The problem with PVE is that there is no threat. The underlying threat of attack from another tribe is what motivates you to build a base. What's the point otherwise? The dinos really aren't much of a threat.
So as a compromise, I suggest another mode in which while your tribe is offline you and your base switch to PVE mode. This way the only way your base gets smashed is during an awesome fight, rather than a frustrating night raid that you have no chance to stop at lower levels. Also adds a little honour to the game, forcing people to fight head on rather than night time base rape.
