I think it would be a good idea to have the ability to deconstruct items in your inventory, like stone tools or cloth clothes. You can demolish buildings and receive half the original cost in resources, but you have to place them.
Being able to demolish/deconstruct the items in our inventory would be helpful because we would actually have a reason for keeping all of the items we pick up from dead animals and air drops, and instead of them taking up space, we can deconstruct them and use the resources for something else.
It would also be helpful for if someone accidentally builds the wrong item, then they can deconstruct it and get half the resources back. That way they wont have to start all over again collecting resources because they still have half of them.
I understand that it would be difficult to deconstruct stuff like the stone tools because they are made of so few resources, but for other things that would make this really helpful!
Item Deconstructing
Re: Item Deconstructing
This is something I've noticed most when working with pipes. Sometimes I'm not sure which one to use so I end up making some I don't need. It would be nice to be able to deconstruct them while in my inventory. Of course now I just store the extras.

That and/or an item recycler. I'm always getting trash tools and armor from dinos. I want to throw them into a machine that grinds them up and spits out mats.
