Dedicated Server not showing up on server list

Post by Stylomax » Sat Aug 22, 2015 2:31 pm

Yep it's time for another one of those posts folks, perhaps in reading the other posts I missed something on how they fixed their issue but I wasn't able to find a solution. I have an ARK server that up until about a week ago was viewable by the Steam public on the server list and folks were able to connect to it just fine. Then during one of the updates something seems to have gotten borked as nobody is able to connect to the server externally. I'm able to see the server on the LAN tab and even on the Internet tab on the Steam client but nobody else is able to, I'm also able to connect to the server and play without issue. So here's what I've done so far:
  • Checked to make sure ports 27015, 7777 and 7778 are all forwarded to the server's local static IP
  • Checked to make sure Windows firewall is also allowing these requests through
  • Temporarily disabled Windows firewall
  • Put the server on the router's DMZ for a temporary session
  • Downloaded a completely new install through steamcmd
Some general notes:
  • I received a new DHCP lease on my WAN IP a couple of weeks ago. At first I thought this caused the issue as it was still waiting to get on the master list. Server has been online continuously for over 2 weeks at this point though with the new IP address.
  • I also run a pair of Terraria (7779 & 7780) servers that folks have been able to connect to just fine during this entire frame.
  • I also have a Teamspeak 3 server that has been unaffected
Server info:

CPU: Intel i5 2500K
RAM: 16 GB
HDD: Combination of a 120GB SSD (where the OS & ARK reside) along with a RAID 5 array
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
ARK Server name: The Splatterhouse

Troubleshooting info:

Startup scripts:

ShooterGameServer.exe TheIsland?QueryPort=27015?MaxPlayers=70?listen -nosteamclient -game -server -log

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I'm pretty well stuck at this point.

Same issue here through a Windows 8 dedicated server. Did you find an answer?

As far as I'm aware I have not. I have one person that's able to connect through the WAN IP address that I gave him and one other person is connecting I believe through the same method. The server is still showing up on the server list for myself, again under The Splatterhouse if you want to check and see if you can see it, but I haven't been able to confirm if the other folks that used to play can see it or not. It may be they've simply moved on to another server, I just wish I could confirm.

It's the Steam API.. you just have to wait a few days, it's still not even a guarantee. Just a really overall bad server browser.
Confirmed directly with the server developer on Skype.

It's time people start using third party launchers like Survival Launcher or TopArkServers.com to be quite honest.
